Lorna Jones
Performing Arts Tutor / Chaperone (Mentee) - Volunteer
Hi, I’m Lorna, and I’ve loved being part of Dare to Dream JR. at Take Part. This project has helped me grow in so many ways — as a performer, as a mentor, and as a person.
One of my favourite moments was performing Surface Pressure for the younger group. I was so nervous at first, but once I started, I realised how much I enjoyed supporting them. Working with the younger cast has been a big part of my journey — it pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow my confidence, my leadership, and my ability to step up when needed.
Dare to Dream has also taught me a lot about myself. I’ve learned how important it is to take a moment to breathe when things get overwhelming, and how much difference it makes when you feel supported. Take Part has always been a place where I feel welcomed and understood — somewhere I can be myself and connect with people who feel the same.
Musical theatre has given me a chance to express myself creatively and imagine who I want to become. I’m working hard towards my GCSEs, and in the future I’d love to study theatre and maybe even build a career in the industry.
To me, daring to dream means having the courage to try new things, even when they feel scary. I’m really grateful for everything this project has helped me discover — about performing, about other people, and about myself.
And of course: thank you so much Take Part, for giving me and the other mentees the chance to be part of this show and work with the younger ones.
