Hi, I’m Ava, and being part of Dare to Dream JR. has been one of the biggest and most exciting experiences I’ve had at Take Part. This year I’ve taken on a bigger role than ever before, and it’s helped me grow in confidence, push myself, and have so much fun along the way.

One of my favourite moments was finally learning the dance for my song — especially laughing at some of the moves with my friends. I loved having new experiences, like working with younger children and performing alongside people I care about. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way, and helped me realise that I’m capable of more than I thought.

This project has taught me so many skills: teamwork, confidence, communication, creativity, leadership, and even determination when things feel challenging. I’ve learned to speak up more, express myself around others, and trust that it’s okay to take time for myself when I need it. A breathing technique we learned has been especially helpful for calming my nerves.

Daring to dream, for me, means pushing yourself even when something feels hard, because it’s worth it when you reach your goals. Musical theatre has helped me grow as a person — through singing, dancing, and performing, I’ve learned how to express who I am.

I’m now more confident about my future and what I can do. My next goals are to get good grades in my exams and eventually find a career where I can work with children, drama, or maybe even something completely unexpected!

Take Part feels like one big welcoming, supportive family where everyone is friendly, no matter how long you’ve known them. Thank you to everyone who has helped me grow and for giving me the chance to improve myself in ways I didn’t know I could.
